"Is the geek dead? Is it the day of the used car salesman? No, it’s the day of those who can speak numerous social langauges."Another SEO dude giving away the farm LOL. Good stuff. And no brain dead "how to game the social networks without tears in 10 easy steps", either. For a change, heh.
right fantomaster...
I find this subject fascinating. The thing I like about this business is change, its like a raging stream of water and we are all extreme, white water freaks. Those who survive are going to be those who catch the wave at the right angle. Programmers are out, writers are in ;) Im just enjoying the ride.
Those who succeed are those willing to stop clinging to whatever they hope will keep them safe. Safety is an illusion, albeit a very persistent one. Just let go and set out on the ride of your life. You may was well; you know this isnt a dress rehearsal.
Catch the wave baby...catch the wave....
"Use the force Luke" - interesting perspective!
I agree with Rose above (embrace change), but to what degree is this a flavor-of-the-month issue? A celebration of "yeah its my turn " vs. something about SEO as persuasion? One major search engine heavily weights trendyness via link valuation, so attention herders rule the day. If all you do is seek bursts of high traffic, I suppose social media is the way to go right now. Does that mean it "beats SEO"? I dont see the connection. Social Media as a way to get links, yes. Social media for traffic, yes. Social media for search engine ranking and referrals?I agree its an interesting topic, but I think it needs further discussion.
The Cognitive Dissonance theory proposes that people are not "rational" but rather "rationalizers" looking for reasons that strenghten their pre-existing beliefs.Understanding this in depth has great implications to the practive of Persuasive SEO and Social Media Optimization.
