The press and bloggers really need to be aware of how they link and attribute. If you are giving a link to someone, think about how that link can best benefit them.

Still shaking my head over the poor practise in the Guardian article, linking out to those MFA's... and worse still, not to you!

Great write-up Andy... I particularly think the "invisible links" section  is something more bloggers should pay attention to.

I'm wondering how Andy can still be posting articles when he supposed to be sleeping in preparation for his flight. Is there an AndyBeard bot?

I spoke with the writer of the article as well, at the beginning of his research and turned him onto the whole idea of MFA sites, which he had never heard of.  At least Andy got a mention! :)

We actually have a response from both the author of the article and the editor of the Technology section of the Guardian in the comments now if you care to read their linking policy. I haven't yet responded as I am still travelling and trying to keep up with email
