Dave Snyder writes "Before I got into SEO and SMO I was a teacher. It was a way tougher job than I have now. I taught crazed 7th and 8th graders to write. Not just write, but write for standardized tests. Which meant quick, informative pieces, that score them well enough to earn IPods and Xbox 360s from their parents."

15 minutes is a great goal. Add a tickler file (to know what’s coming up - halloween - pubcon - etc) and you’ll be golden.

@chris1 The point isnt really about the time...its not a race...its more that writing doesnt need to take hours, or a ton of labor cost. You can write quick and efficient you just need a strategy. If it takes you 30 minutes, but it would normally take you 1.5 hours, you are doing a better job, no?

This article is solid advice. I especially liked the ending which recommended putting the piece of writing away and then taking a look at it an hour later. That’s golden advice.

I do the same sort of job, preparing students in grade 10-12 to passs the high school exit exam essay.  You can learn a lot by reading short essays written fast.  We stress, a beginning that grabs the reader’s attention, and then the body, and the conclusion.  It seems that many of today’s writers do not know how to end what they have written.I like the idea of subscribing to feeds to get content ideas, too.  We have an edge over students preparing for exams.  Thanks for sharing the article! The End.
