Think that making money selling websites on eBay is easy? Think about it again. The 27 points in this post will help you to make it but at the same time, it will show you that site flipping is not as easy as it is if you want to become successful.
Wayne, there are 56 points to this article, click page 2 for the rest!
Selling websites on eBay is quite straightforward but you have to put some work in and "go the extra mile" to stand out from most of the idiots who are just there to rip people off.
I was thinking of creating some sites for some of my unused domains and selling them. I would create some basic content and leave room for the buyer to add more, most likely through a simple content creation system. Is this ok or do I need to sell a site that is actually already making money?
One more question: If the majority of people buying sites on ebay are looking to get rich quick without doing any real work, do you end up getting many complaints and negative reviews when these sites fall flat on their faces?
Thanks for a great article!
This reads like a guide to selling anything on eBay combined with a guide to selling turnkey websites on your favourite website marketplace. Quite average content, imho.
@ DarkMatter you don't need to sell a website which is already making money. In fact, putting a simple content blog on an existing domain would be perfect.
I offer my buyers training and marketing advice and always tell them they won't make money if they don't put the work in. I get positive feedback every time.
@ Gab the guide shows you how to sell what are effectively "turnkey" websites but for a large price. I can sell websites which would only achieve a price of $100 on Sitepoint for around $2,000 on eBay by offering a little extra support. There is nothing "average" about my bank balance after selling a couple of these websites every week!
Selling websites on Ebay is a tricky beast which many fail to tame. This article should inspire many to atleast get on the right track!
I'd never ever sell a site on ebay or any open forum for that matter. It's asking for scrutiny... that said, I know not everyone has a network to say "hey, this site is for sale, pass it along" too
@Sugarrae
what's wrong with openly selling a website?
