Minor correction. Item 4 contains "backslash" not "forward slash". Backslash would be right.
this is a great article!
Very good article. Thank you for sharing.
Thats really awesome! would like to implement them and see all soon!
Finally, after all this time waiting, a good article with something I could use!Nicely done.
The 8th point will create a serious SEO issue in the form of duplicate content, I think. As it creates multiple URLs for a same destination page.
Two issues with #1 -- first, much better to add the "onclick" portion using Javascript, rather than placing it inline using the onclick attribute. I wrote a post a while back about how to do just that using jQuery. Second, tracking outbound links like this will register them as pageviews, when really they arent. Google Analytics has some docs about event tracking, which is more appropriate here, but it seems to still be in beta -- my tests havent shown up in my GA reports yet.
Glad you all liked. @kichus, Ill grant you that it can create problems. However, you can simply nofollow the link, and its fixed.@rmurphey i know using onclick isnt great, but it is easy, and this will cater to the largest audience. And event tracking will be cool when its out of beta, but until then, Id still use this method.
Thanks for this! Analytics is a certain poor point for me and this has helped inspire me to improve....
