Its becoming more natural. A case of seducing rather than being a aggresive. Humans should make the choice, not an algo. But heres the thing about humans, they are predictable and follow patterns, just like a search engine algo.Simply crack the algo and serve up food the human brains wants to feed on. It really is that simple.
Right Lyndon, but take note that I did not use the term link baiting. Link baiting is still too short term and negative in its assumptions. Just yield to the market demand even if you cant earn directly and get paid with the "money of the Web" - links.
I agree the low hanging fruit of SEO is losing its value, but at the same time depending on your situation old school SEO link building methods (article submission sites, directories) might be the best bang for your buck. This is a post I wrote that discusses when and what link building tactics to use. http://catchsearchmarketing.com/6-questions-to-streamline-link-building/42
Jeff: In Germany Google has killed article directories in a huge sweep at the end of 2007. Internationally this might happen as well. Most directories dont work anymore unless theyre high quality and niche.
Some good advices there, nice to see THE most updated list on link and traffic building as the rest are all outdated.
AMEN! Ive been preaching the idea of natural link building for years:http://www.iprospect.com/media/newsletter_mar06_evans.htm
A lot of us have, Matt. You should have said something in public. :DIm not especially impressed with the list, as much as I appreciate the overall thrust of this post. Sphunn cause its deserving, and weve had way too much "hot garbage" around Sphinn lately.
How to get links and stop link building? Isnt this link building? :)
@seobusiness: Getting links is passive, building links active mode.
Glad to see that link baiting is no longer an acceptable phrase.
