As a seo I wanted to know - how many words or characters does Google count in a link? What’s best practice when creating links - internal, or external? What is the optimal length of a HTML link?

No, I think it’s more of an arguement for making sure important keywords are in the first 55 characters.

The information is important to people who use the "very long tail" keyword strategy. I have found that I do well on the long search strings. The competition for one word search is simply to intense for most sites to survive.
