Trouble with that is that I have trouble convincing my boss that dissimilation is not the brightest idea around - he seems married to the idea that people can be sold anything and theyll be sold better if you can pretend to be "one of them"... like "people wont listen to a Chinese kid from Malaysia, howabout you make a profile as a white man from England instead?". And what the hell am I supposed to do with that? Drop in "Jolly Good" and "Old Chap" at the end of every sentence? <div></div><div>Also, Im terrible at socializing. I get easily intimidated and I guess I internalized one of MY moms teachings too well: "If you dont have anything useful to say, dont say it." </div><div></div><div>Which is why I never interact much around here. Maybe I should find another line of work.</div>
@FuzzyMarketer - My mother said something similar to what your mom said. She said.... , "If you dont have anything nice to say dont say it at all". In my moms case she was teaching me that there is always a way to say things nicely & proactively.... there was no sense in being mean. Your mom said a similar thing, but with useful which is another good value to teach. Your comment was very useful and brought up a value that I didnt mention in my post. So, thank you. I wouldnt let your worry about being useful keep you from interacting with others via comments like this one or any other way online. Because as long as you interact proactively your opinions and thoughts are very useful. :)
