Funny that this one hasnt been sphunn before...
Surprised me as well!Eric Ward is really on a roll in this article, offering some great tips. I´d recommend reading it twice though: some suggestions may seem obvious, but well... they aren´t ;)
...this kind of article would be a great way to introduce people to link-building - I dont mean that in a patronising its a nice intro to the topic kind of way (as obviously hes a legend), but rather to build that philosophy into peoples link-building process from the word go, makes a whole lot sense. Its the mindset that the article draws on that most appeals to me in this article, definitely.Nice sphinn, thanks.
Eric Wards main point is that you need outstanding content and passion (and the two go together). Ive heard that Wordtracker might be working on a follow-up article from/with Eric. Ill let you know.
There is such a vast difference between good content and outstanding content. The difference can be a huge amount of links.
good article. i look forward to more
Creating value on your website is the best way to go about building links, as a link is really a vote for something worth reading and going to.
The trouble is, most businesses do not have outstanding content, nor would it look naturally to turn a sales portal in a viral portal - hence a content-based links strategy will often be quite limited unless leveraged creatively. There are, of course, more intelligent approaches to link building than content-focus, though.
