I’ll credit this to Jonah Stein because he was the one who pointed it out to me, but said he didn’t blog so I could do it. The Akismet stats page clearly shows that since about August 2008 the ratio of Ham (legit blog comments) to Spam has been in decline. In terms of web blight this could be a good indicator that actions such as nofollow and improved anti-comment-spam systems are finally beginning to deter blog spammers.
