That would be very cool.
Matt Cutts already said, in only the last few days, "not for a while yet".Heck. Do people still watch that little green bar?
Matt said that a while ago I believe... and what exactly is a while?I think they still watch it, those in SEO and those outside of SEO. I had a boss at a company that wasnt involved in search, actually an english school. I told her about an ecommerce site which shipped to Japan (the school was there). She responded that she wasnt going to buy off of the site, because Google said it was a 3. And she only bought from sites Google ranks highly. She also thought that Google only showed ads for quality filtered sites in GMail.Goes to show, the quality of the little green bar is in the eyes of the beholder. If a company like HackerSafe can walk around claiming that their button increases sales conversions by 5%... I wonder how PageRank influences buyer behavior?
Matts comment was just the other day, "I don’t expect a full PageRank update for at least a few more weeks, and possibly longer."http://www.mattcutts.com/blog/still-chugging/Maybe just some burps from the belly of the beast.
There have been minor changes going on for the last 4 or 5 days and a few have been quite high profile.
This is interesting.
There have been big changes in the index as seen at 72.14.203.xxx IP addresses, but by going only on past form, Ill guess that it will be at least several weeks before anything much becomes clear as to what is actually going on.
John Chow went from a 6 to a 5 and I believe Andys site went from a 5 to a 4. Correct me if I a wrong on those two numbers but Google is up to something with the PR system. Matt did say it would be sometime before we saw any type of update.
Those are interesting changes. I doubt if Matt would be that unplugged, so it does make whats going on a bit curioser and curioser. I fired up SEO for Firefox and checked my sites and a few others Ikeep an eye on. Didnt see any changes, but that doesnt mean anything in this through the rabbit hole world in which we work.
Matt Cutts (in the comments of his latest post):"I don’t expect a full PageRank update for at least a few more weeks, and possibly longer."TBPR is a flawed metric, but the home page TBPR is a general sign of authority, and authority still plays a part in filtering spam from results.
"She responded that she wasnt going to buy off of the site, because Google said it was a 3. And she only bought from sites Google ranks highly. She also thought that Google only showed ads for quality filtered sites in GMail."Wow. I know of some high PR sites that I would not trust to even visit let alone give personal information. Just goes to show you how much misinformation there is inside and outside of SEO circles.
Theres been these burps for over a month. A blog I used to own, which i sold to a friend, dropped from PR5 to PR0 - but he says it doesnt bother him.At any rate, ill ive seen on anyones sites are drops, not gains. The fundamental problem is a conflict of interest in Googles entire setup. "If you dont use our ads, well find a way to penalize you." But your ads dont monetize for most people. Whos going to work for free?
"Heck. Do people still watch that little green bar?"Exactly. What the hell, 41 Sphinns for some Toolbar update, jeez. Its like DP here...
