I wonder what Gordon Brown would tweet about though? "Woke up. Had breakfast. Saw stockprices drop. Went back to bed."
maybe twitter.com/gordonbrown is actually the real Gordon Brown after all!
"Somebody disagreed with me in public, drafting a new law to prevent this""RT @jacquismith ID cards are a huge success, database has not been lost for over 4 hours""Consultation on the oxygen tax shows electorate wants to pay to breathe"
"Woke up, used anti-terrorist law to confiscate the assets of a small peaceful, non-military nation, had tea hoping to see popularity grow because I might have convinced people I was not the enemy, went back to bed."
heapso "maybe twitter.com/gordonbrown is actually the real Gordon Brown after all!"If thats the case maybe he should ask "What would Gene Hunt do?"Twitter.com/GeneHunt (Life on Mars / Ashes to Ashes T.V. Character)
Id say hed tweet mass hypnosis tweets that would send us all off to sleep soundly land...
Gordon Brown probably hasnt even heard of Twitter...
"Did that thing where I woke up and forgot that I was PM. Weird. Thank god I finally saw off @TonyBlair."
I suspect that Twitter played two roles this time and could for the furue:1. Keeping the faithful up-to-date with discussion tiopics. If that did nothing else, it kept them motivated.2. People placed a lot of peer-pressure for others to vote, and in this medium that helps the Candidate with the younger suppert base.I suspect that social media did very little to change peoples minds, but there probably are ways to do that, too.
@amabie Id agree, I dont think either Brown or Cameron will mobilise anywhere near as much buy in as Obama achieved using the same.Besides, most of us UKers just arent as switched on to our politics as our counterpart Merry Can friends, or am I just getting a little cycnical in my latter years.
@robwatts yeah but the lack of involvement by Brown and co in twitter, facebook and the rest probably goes a long way towards that
Technology is cool. It can be incredibly effective way to promote your cause. But hard wires don’t necessarily create human bondsThere are a lot of lengthy and overwhelming definitions of social media, social networking and Web 2.0 out there – pick your jargon.Bloggers and vloggers want a platform for personal expression, and they like connecting with people who care about their content. Everyone can be a pundit in the world of social media. -----------------------------------cynthia jacquline<table border="0"><tbody><tr><td align="left"> </td> <td align="left"> Online DUI</td></tr></tbody></table>
Very true Cynthia, but you just spoilt your point a little with the link drop in your comment, its considered anti social around these parts :) Golden rule of social is to be social after all!
Just on that, Justin Billingsley @ Orange said it well @ IABEngage tother day: provide utility value to the community if you can. Your branding is there as a badge, in an ambient way, but youre not pushing it at ppl. Its re-learning how to market in the post-Gutenberg world (copyright: plenty of people smarter than I am).
