Since social media is, well, a social medium, it’s important that users understand the proper ways to behave online. No, just because you’re behind a computer monitor in your mom’s basement doesn’t mean all social etiquette goes out the window.

These are great rules to conduct yourself by when engaging in social media. I especially like the last one that is one that should be done even off line.

@ABrown74--You’re right--At the end of the day, it’s just about being a decent person instead of a complete jerk.

Very true, nice piece, well said. There is no need to be an arsehole online, some think it’s amusing to be so, and do it very well too.Would most of these miscreants be so bold in ones face? I very much doubt it. :)

It follows on nicely for a recent post from Annie on guest blogging netiquette.  It’s a topic that is good to discuss, but those that don’t have moral conduct can’t be lead into following a list of rules IMHO.Don’t be a Keyboard Gangsta This is a good one as there’s so much of this already.  Nick Wilsdon wrote a post on a brand management tool called Who’s Talking today, which is a topic that I really like reading about considering all the keyboard gangters there are about...

Nice rules of etiquette in general, whether you’re online or off.
