This post is sourced from my presentation at Pubcon on the Linkfluence: How to Buy Links with Maximum Juice and Minimum Risk panel. Since it received such positive feedback and a lot of requests for sharing, I thought I’d do so in a more referenceable way here on the blog. If you’d like to download the slide deck, you can find it here in Powerpoint format.

Some good tips to obtain quality links. Although the majority of them would still require some form of cost so I could presume that the title could be mis-leading to some, heh.

amazing!, this is the same rand who blasted a seo company publicly just a few weeks ago for trying to ’manipulate’ search engines. if this is not link manipulation then what is?

@alleycat - aside from the idea to purchase a site in order to 301 redirect - I wouldnt call any of it maniputaltion- the points are good - event sponsorships and site aquisitions can become expensiveI think in any case whether you want to admit to it openly or not when you start your link building campaign you ebtter check how deep your pockets are $$$$nice post

Getting sponshorship and donation links is so 2005ish. Nothing new in that. Besides, i have seen sites getting banned in Google after they acquired a fair amount of event sponsorship and donation links.  Such links are easy to detect. Not sure its worth the risk. At least i would not advice my clients to take this approach.

@Alleycat, You took the words right out of my mouth (I just think enough is said about the issue on Sphinn). We all know where Rand stands on a variety of issues.
