Fortunately, good business models can compensate for faulty SEO. Thanks to people like Dave Wallace and Jeff Quipp, the SEO part can be fixed. :)
Thanks Michael. It all reminds me of one of Seth Godins great quotes; <h3 class="entry-header">"Advertising is the tax you pay for being unremarkable"</h3>
Theres also a pretty big gray area that exists between a faulty business model and a well-run business. Many businesses with good models dont receive the full benefit of good SEM because they suffer from mildly effective lead management, poorly optimized administrative procedures, or any number of productivity related issues that limit the ROI for the business that their SEM campaigns have produced. This gray area is a place where the business can be "successful" to spite their inadequacies, because their SEM has done so well for them. But I guess thats a different blog post all together.
Great point Tim ... its not just the business model, but the efficiencies of business processes and procedures! Haha ... does this mean we may also have to become expect at BPO (Business PRocess Optimization) in order to help companies feel the full effect our our efforts?
We have taken on the occassional client like this. Its important to set up expectations, and get paid up front!Often times the advice we give them ends up changing their business model to something a little closer to reality.Great Post.
