Id be interested in knowing what topics you think arent promoteable. Not monetizeable I can see, but not promoteable? >>>Some blogs are just going to do well because of the person doing the blogging.Typically because that person promoted themselves in many of the same ways suggested here back in the day before they were anyone special. For example, TwiTip.com is successful because Darren Rowse is behind it, but last I checked, Darren wasnt born the son of a famous blogger who had his blogging career handed to him on a silver plate. He worked for it using many of the methods above to get to the point that a blog COULD be successful solely because it was him launching it.Giving excuses as to why others can do something while saying you cant is a bad choice, IMHO: http://www.sugarrae.com/find-pair-balls/
I think any topic is promoteable if you are good enough at viral marketing, and if its promoteable it will generat buzz, and build links that in turn help you rank better and THAT my friends will infact help you make money.
"I think any topic is promoteable if you are good enough at viral marketing.."While I do agree anything is promoteable (pet rocks, the Jonas Brothers etc) I disagree you have to be good at viral marketing in order to make it so. You just need to be able to stroke an advertising check. In order to sustain the promotion you need viral marketing or some aspect of it."Some blogs are just going to do well because of the person doing the blogging."I also agree some blogs will do better than others based on whos writing them BUT will be quick to add they wont be able to sustain that popularity unless they continue to provide good content. Fool me once, shame on me. Fool me twice, forget your blog.
Any topic is indeed promoteable. I drew some attention from Rand (http://twitter.com/randfish/statuses/1010015512) with a simple photo on my unknown blog . Sometimes Twitter just does the work for you. <div></div><div>I believe that consistency in quality of content is key. Its also what is most challenging about quality blogging. Thank you for the great post. </div>
