Yum.
It feels like hell just froze over for the SEO universe.
why is an old commercial jingle bouncing around in my head? you know the one...for glad trash bags...as a thin trash bag breaks, a high pitched voice says, "wimpy! wimpy! wimpy!":D
Donna! Thats not nice!Think positively... like, maybe now Jim can join in a choir as a soprano, since those pesky cojones are no longer in the way.
Aw, Michael, that hurts!
Agreed... low blow Michael. You know this is hurting our black hat hearts, right (at least Jim and mine... Lisa and Pat are a little too pearly, hee)? Its like a loss of innocence that we can never return to. Damn it was fun being a kid and mortgages suck! We can do so much more now though. ;)
"we won’t be getting any more paid links for manipulating search engines"So what will you be getting paid links for? :-)
Its clear that there are still a lot of sites that are selling links, and obviously at least as many buying them. I dont think there is as much black hat involved the link trade as there is in the pyramid scheme of building multiple sites with the same or similar content just to have a url with the desired key terms, then linking all those sites to a number of other sites that are doing the same thing, creating a big WEB of links that all point to the same content on thousands of different urls. In my opinion that practice is much more deceptive than the buying of links, in fact at the root of the WEB is link buying since you cant get into the web without paying, and the result of paying is nothing more than obtaining links. By the way, if link building is black hat, then I want out. Link building without buying is one of the least rewarding positions in the world wide web.
Im glad to see that WBWP is adhering to Googles rules. However, if I were one of their clients involved in the audit and suddenly found out that links I "purchased" via their service were now either going to be removed or hit by a nofollow, Id be pissed! I can only imagine some of the angry phone calls they may be receiving from lots of unhappy clients.
actually no ones been unhappy. I think theyd rather be safe.
Nice PR release. Stay ahead of the times by carrying the paid link torch when it has a cool renegade feel, then disavow them when company growth needs preserving and company image needs another boost.
Im sorry but I have to agree, this just reads like "look at me Google...Im good". Usually a fan but not today :(
