Google has been quietly laying off staff and up to 10,000 jobs could be on the chopping block according to sources. By law, Google is required to report layoffs publicly and with the SEC however, Google has managed to get around the legal requirement. In fact, one of the ways Google was able to meet Wall Street’s Q3 earnings expectations was by trimming “operational” expenses.

Having been one of those low-class "permanent" temps for a large tech company years ago, I know what that is like - it sucks pretty hard.  Didn’t know Google had so many of them.  That’s an ugly situation.

Microsoft does this too - at least they used to. Don’t act so surprised that Google is a big evil entity: it’s a normal tech company.

Google is not the friendly company everybody assumes. It’s a much too powerful behemoth. In harder times we’ll see more of this. Sooner or later they will sell user data too.
