"I typically write posts that are three to six paragraphs long. I try to be clear and direct. And yet, just about everything I write is misunderstood by someone. (Not the same someone, alas)."

Its almost like playing charades, when your trying to express complicated, new, and controversal ideas. But the differences is. Charades is a game, twitter isnt. Its real life conversation. So, caution is key as ive learned over the past few days. Aside from this: My main lesson from Twitter is, IM NOT FUNNY. So dont try to be. :)
Just Seth Godin struggling with adoption of twitter. Hes hip, hes in tune, but hes not on twitter? Does he says its unworthy? If not, why isnt he on it? He has a reputation to maintain... he knows twitter will be difficult.... what to do, what to do.
The telling part of Seths post about Twitter is that he still views it as microblogging. It has long since shifted into another plane of communication. Pownce, Facebook Statuses might still be but I dont thing hes figured it out yet or has dismissed it as too much work for him.
Ive always said that Im so often misunderstood...hehe
Has anyone here actually been fired/fired someone via Twitter?
This is actually something I thought of myself the other day, not just with twitter but with all forms of (written) communication online.Perhaps we should start speaking like an alien critter (dont remember what the race was called) in the video game Mass Effect. Before saying anything specific, he clearly labeled the intention of his comment. Something like:"Genuinely curious. Do you actually think so?"or"Sarcastic retort. That is certainly not the whole truth, ambassador."Since it was a while since I played the game those where not accurate quotes, but you get the idea. ;-)
