This topic has been on my mind for weeks and the post about yourself and the NYIM/BOTW event got me motivated. I think it would be very interesting to hear about some of the good pro bono work being done by SEMs because we all know there's a lot more to do.

Rand Fishkins's crazy marriage proposal idea raised over $10'000 for a children's hospital. That's more than I've ever done. There is a lot of generosity in the SEM community though, it's a great thing. It's a pity more people outside our community don't hear about it - might temper some of the SEO-bashing but understandably the people doing this keep it quiet.
