Providing high value, unique content is an excellent way to build links.
yes, but the difficult part about creating the content is doing it in a timely fashion. had an idea a few months ago related to earth day. by the time it created and made it through approvals and was posted, it was mid-day. not very timely.
Why do certain mediums require a years worth of advance planning and forecasting, but content creation continues to be an afterthought for most businesses? This drives me crazy. Content should be developed according to resources. If you cant write on-the-fly then outsource x number of quality content articles to experts rather than half-heartedly blabbering reaction posts. Its embarassing to the business and disrespectful to visitors whose time was wasted. @CanarsieBK your comment sparked a rant on my end, but it wasnt really directed at you. Ill admit Im confused about why an Earth Day piece barely went live when it falls on the same day of the year, every year. If there isnt a solid content strategy in place then theres nothing to blame except poor planning. With all of that said, I loved Erics comments and know I still have a lot of growing to do in this area.
When we are pursuing a search engine optimization campaign, the link popularly will become an issue. When considering link counts, we has to realize it is a subjective game. Some sites will get high rankings with only a smaller number of links while others require far more. You should use this information as a guide, not a line drawn in the sand. Okay, so what are the numbers? Typically, I shoot for 100 links reported on Google. Google only reports a small percentage of the links it finds to your site, but 100 is generally a good number to shoot for.-------------------------Lucycaty http://www.widecircles.com
Ive got to agree with headlanddigital. For e-commerce often use top 10, how to prevent, comparisons to other similar products. Works very well as these often get picked up and you can target specific keywords
"How to" its another way. For example "how to make 10 links in 1 minute" :)
