Jeff, I answered your question on the post, but I’ll repeat/rewod here.  The answer, as always, is "it all depends".  Most sites that I monetize utilize a mixture of of methods, including all those listed.  Usually, it’s a matter of trial and error, seeing what works best for the topic, etc.  Most often, a mix is the best bet.

Good article, sphunn. I’ll have to take a second look at using that nichewatch tool. One thing I do use is backlinkwatch.com. Then you’re able to see the actual anchor text of the backlinks on your competition and whether they’re going after the same type of keywords as you.
