intresting but if you focus on the keyphrases that are driving traffic and converting, then focusing on optimising for these keyphrases does that not bring us back to ranking?

@seoninja - In the sense that you’re still trying to rank, yes. It’s not that achieving ranking in the search engines is becoming less important (althought the SERPs are changing as well), it’s more that ranking as a measurement is becoming less and less reliable. Seeing yourself at #1 for one keyphrase on one computer doesn’t mean what it used to mean, and that one ranking is only showing you a tiny part of the big picture.

that’s great information for me. I’m tired of my client who want to have high rank in google in case their website has little of content or traffic.
