Congrats to my friends who are on this list!
Cant agree more with the number 1 pick.
it should be the ambition of every SEM consultant to be on that list :-)Respect !
Congratulations everyone!
Wheres the link to see how the list was calculated? Is there a link missing?
Interesting list. But does internet marketing really only have 1/10 the number of women in it than men? I counted only 12 women on the list out of 100. How can that be?
@yetanotherben it was from a voting process over a period of six weeks. They said on Twitter theyll be posting a blog post explaining how the entire process went. And for the record, I had zero to do with nominations or voting... I simply saw the list when copyblogger twittered about it and saw they put in a lot of effort and saw some interesting faces/names.
@Sugarrae Ah ok, sounds good! Cheers for that. (And well done!!) :)
congrats to all my friends on the list....how did they get the names for this list? I do not see any "methodology."
Something about "a big bowl of obvious".
First - congrats to everyone I know who did make the list. However, I find the lack of names quite interesting. The big behind-the-scenes influencers for large companies are no where to be found. Companies like RHD, YellowPages.com, SuperPages, etc sell tens of thousands of products, how is someone like Justin Sanger no where on the list? While I dont think I should be on it, Ive spoken to a few thousand people this year at seminars and conferences in multiple countries. Someone like Justin should be ahead of myself in this list, but you cant ignore the large influencers.I dont see a methodology for this list; so it almost seems like a nice piece of link-bait for the marketing community.
Wheres Seth Godin?
Seth apparently doesnt hang out at the right conferences.
I thought I hang out at the right conferences. I guess not? ;-)
@rustybrick they were nominated about six weeks ago... they said theyll release a blog post... Jesus, everyone is way too serious. God help me I will make sure the next list is vetted and approved by our governing industry... wait... ;-)>>>big behind-the-scenes influencersBrad, you know I agree that Justin is one of the best minds in the local arena and in online marketing in general, but can you really blame folks for not knowing the "behind the scenes" influencers?
@sugarrae just trying to find out if it is worth a post at SELand. Thanks for clarifying Rae.
@rustybrick no worries... ping @ashukairy on twitter to get the scoop :)
@sugarrae - sign me up for that governing body. Id like to help piss everyone off a bit (note to self, maybe its time to blog again). Yes - its probably part link bait (and Ill likely be linking to it), but someone also put in a whole helluva lotta time into creating something cool. I know part of their process was to ask the folks who were nominated who THEY would nominate. Its not the MOST scientific method, but it did turn up a pretty decent list (okay, yes, Im a bit biased cause Im on it). Brads right though - there are a TON of awesome people in the marketing industry that are not present on the list. Kudos to invesp for doin something cool though. Dont listen too much to the haters, and like Rae said - please dont take yourself so seriously.
@stuntdubl that was my theory... but you know, were linkbaiters ourselves and we KNOW how much time and effort this piece took, regardless of whether or not its intention was to get links. And now that its been successful, theyll likely take in all the input and do it even better next year. They took a chance and DID something. I almost always respect that.
I think they spelled my name wrong.....pretty much every letter of it!! Great list, but missing a few industry dinosaurs for sure like Barry Schwartz, Chris Boggs, Godin and others.....
lol any list that puts Aaron Wall in the top 10 above people like Danny Sullivan and Matt Cutts is a complete joke. Did not de-sphinn because I do not want people to think I did it because I am not on the list. "Surprising" Aaron is so high on the list, especially considering how many people he deigned to nominate that made it into the top 100 (Greywolf and Sugarrae alone probably being more influencial than a number of the top 20).
