I’m here to learn stuff, and I want to go to one of the geek expos in the US next year. But which one is the best for me? I’m interested in seo and online marketing in general.

PS - I like my beer.

I’d quite like a seat on that plane as well Shaun -- it would be a rewarding venture ++ I also like beer. I was in Kansas years ago and the pitchers of the local ale was quite a good brew.

I think it’s too early to tell - the big conferences are in a state of flux with SMX being new, SES changing with new leadership, and WMW PubCon only once a year (in 07 anyway).I think SES in New York and SES in San Jose will always be staples while WMW PubCon and SMX shows will get attention from a more experienced audience.  So 2008 will be a telling year, but it’s too early to make plans if you can only pick just one.Re: beer!, for connoisseurs of the good stuff, from what I know Seattle (SMX, June 08) is the better city to choose :)

We ate and drank at the Pike Brewery & Pub in Downtown Seattle in june - we were there for SES Travel and it was phenomenal!I think for the more technically experienced WMW would probably be better - for the all around search marketer w/o a whole trove of experience, SES San Jose was great.  The caveat is I havent talked the powers that be into sending me to an SMX yet - I’m hoping for Santa Clara :)~Carrie

Well, I’m biased! But if you’re new to intermediate, I’m going to push that our own SMX West show in Santa Clara will be the event to check out. It’s our first three day event. I’ll have the agenda out in November. If you’re advanced, well, that’s what SMX Advanced is all about in Seattle next June.

I don’t care if you’re biased. :) I just want to know which is best. Cheers all - I’ll check these out (as long as they are in the sun).SMX advanced sounds good.Any more peddlers of conferences with a pitch? :)

Well, i’m biased, too! WebmasterWorld’s PubCon has something for everyone, from beginners to experienced marketers, and ample opportunity for networking. Held in Las Vegas in December this year, it’s pretty much guaranteed to be sunny.

Las Vegas does sound appealing.... :)
