This is a misconception of ad agencies and clients who have done more media placement than pay per click. In media placement, you place your ad somewhere for a set fee, and that’s it. We can make analogies between that and pay per click, but it’s not the same.

Great list! I feel like I spend a good amount of time convincing people that #4 is, indeed, a myth. Yes, AdWords is a business, and a hugely successful one at that. As you said, if you know what you’re doing, there are plenty of opportunities to share in that success.

@carps at least you know you have work to do there :-) but also clearly some education- the real fun is with the savvier clients who already are doing well in biz overall- they have the money to spend and the savvy to let you do your expert work to make them more money.
