Nice of Yahoo to take the heat off of Googles evilness for awhile ;)
I found out about this last year, when Yahoo decided to add a bunch of keywords to my campaign in France. Unlike what they claim, I was was NOT notified, and only found out when a routine report saw my CTR drop like a rock and my costs almost triple.I do work for the Canadian Government. Every keyword is required by my contract to be approved by my clients. This action causes that contract to be violated. The only thing that saved me was that I had a clause saying that my client is also bound by Yahoos terms and conditions. But they were not happy, particularly since the keyword choices were incompetent and no apparent attempt to understand the goal of the campaign was made. At all.Naturally I opted out, in writing. They ignored it. So I opted out again, this time by simply deleting all my Yahoo accounts.I hate to say this because I generally like and respect most Yahoos Ive met personally, and I know they work hard and mean well as individuals, but boneheaded abuse of their clients like this is why they deserve to go bankrupt. Its not because of Google or MS, its because of themselves.
Glad I dont do any advertising with Yahoo and the single campaign we were managing for a client - our contract with them ended on last day of 2008. I will not recommend the Yahoo Paid Search Marketing option to clients unless they do an about face and chnage this ridiculuos policy.

legal or not i stopped using them when I discovered incentivized traffic through them years ago.
Its really hard to decide these days what the most stupid actions from Yahoo are but this one definately one of the worst. This is not driven my an urge to help advertisers - this is driven by pure greed. The same kind of greed that have killed a number of great companies over the past months.I agree with Ian - my customers will not accept not to be in control of what keywords we use and how the ads are written. If we can not keep that control then we will just not use Yahoo. So we dont.
