I had a similar experience with an early post on my blog. The blog hadnt been live long, had no PR, no external links and little traffic. It was also only the 5th or 6th post Id written at the time. Within 24-48 hours of publishing it appeared on page 1 or 2 of Google for "seo consultation". I attributed that to the fact that someone had submitted the post to Sphinn and it had generated legitimate traffic as a result. The on-page SEO of that post is pretty solid and it continues to rank on page 1. Thanks for sharing your experience Rae. This is yet another example proving that using "SEO tricks" that appeal only to algorithms doesnt matter as much as taking the entire big picture and long term goals into account.
But arent links the single most important part of improving your page rank? You can have the best content out there but if nobody can find it, they will not come. You still need to establish links pointing to your site. Dont you?
>>>But arent links the single most important part of improving your page rankThe problem with that statement is that it implies improving your pagerank is the key to improving your rankings and its not and hasnt been since 2003.>>>You can have the best content out there but if nobody can find it, they will not come.Thats the whole point... stop waiting to rank in the search engines SO they can find it. Market.
But, isnt link building considered to be search engine marketing? What would you consider to be effective methods of marketing?
