Thanks for the Spinn EB... nice to C U out and about - woot!!I’ve spent more than a year writing about implicit user feedback and now have spent the last 20 days hammering every research paper and patent I could get my hands on. I also spoke with IR peeps that agreed with the analysis. I truly don’t know how else to get the SEO community to understand it... these approaches have shown promise, but still haven’t come out of the oven.Until ANYONE can show me research that effectively deals with the noise as well as the click-spam, this should be laid to rest for now. This (computer science) isn’t about hunches... there are hundreds of smart peeps trying to crack this particular nut... we simply must respect the realities of the situation...just sayin’

hee hee.... yup, it’s a classic. As I was saying on Twitter, the one and only Steve G (also here on Sphinn) is responsible for that bit of humor.

I hate bounce rate as a metric because you are forced to add lots of links with catchy titles like "UFO hits windmill", "Is Steve Jobs dying?", "Latest Google Ranking secret", you get the picture. This is not the best for content, but to get people to not hit the back key you need catchy content and videos to glue them on the page for hours instead of seconds.
