Creating a New Niche in Optimization. I like it!

To be honest: Only bad SEO is not website optimization. Good SEO includes usability etc.
Website optimization, by its very nature IS SEO (and more). Separating them into two different categories just doesnt make any sense to me.Its only if youre thinking of old fashioned SEO (search engine spam) that you might think theyre not one and the same, imo.
Jill - my main point was to highlight the fact that many SEO firms are bidding on website optimization keywords, when after you click on them, and arrive at their site, they dont offer any other website optimization services, apart from ones that will help your search ranknigs. You are correct that SEO is a form of website optimization, I just wanted to point out the differences, because it seems like a lot of non-SEO folks are getting confused.
Semantics are as important to SEO as they are to online marketing.
One thing that I think you kind of fail to take into account is that we as SEOs think of "website Optimization" completely differently than say, ma and pa smith, who run the local candy store do. Theyve got some nephew or watched some TV show or read something somewhere that they need to get their site "optimized". So what do they search for? "Website Optimization". Ive both ranked on and bid on that particular group of keywords before and I can tell you that the traffic and clientele that have come in from it have been more your novice user than say someone coming in from "search engine optimization" keywords. Ive always put "website optimization" into that same pile of keywords such as "increase my ranking" "do better in Google" "get in Google" etc... So while I agree that to SOME SEOs website optimization is different than search engine optimization, to any SEO worth their salt its all in the same.
