Recently there seems to be a big shift in focus in the SEO industry regarding the importance of conversions over search engine rankings ... If our rankings didn’t turn into conversions for our clients ... We didn’t complete our goals ... We lost our clients. The bottom line for my SEO strategy has always been focused toward online conversions of search traffic.

Funny, I was saing this back in the 90’s before Google even came around that we should be on top with high margin products that convert like crazy. Instead people focus on traffic and later complain when it does not convert into sales.Percent conversion is more important than being position one on Google for a major keyword, and more time should be spent on doing LPO - landing page optimization than SEO.
