I don’t think these tactics should be promoted here.

This list is of very low quality, could not be considered "little known" and should not be recommended to SEMs. Plus the info on paid inclusion seems to be wrong.

This has nothing to do with internet marketing and doesn’t belong on Sphinn.

google is not skewing serps for obama. even if they were, how does endorsing one candidate or another effect their "bias"

clearly not a paid link. google is not going to change its paid links policy to how you want it so crying about it will do no good.

I want to thanks for such great posts. I now get easier SEO page rank links from blogs and comments.

I don’t think Sphinn should condone this type of tactic. This article is lame.

Rob makes some great points in this article.  I’m surprised "liberalisation" is not being reported on more.  This issue seems like a huge deal to me but barely anyone seems to care.

I’m definitely going to give this method a try.  Thanks for the detailed instructions.

You have got to be kidding me.  People around here really support this?  Wikipedia is an excellent (and free!) resource.  Detailing tactics of how to sabotage this site is bush league, but I would expect nothing less from the author."you just want to make the wikipedia article as dated and irrelevant to the general public for as long as possible"... wow, I would hate my life if this was how I spent my time and energy.

This was first reported in July: http://sphinn.com/story/58994I am lucky that they haven’t touched any of my accounts.  How could a company like Yahoo possibly think this was a good idea?

I think Mr Social Media Rockstar misses the whole point of Digg users complaining about a rigged system.  It has nothing to do with "the frustrations of the casual Digg user who never hits the home page".  Digg users complain about "power users" gaming the system because it waters down the quality of the site.  To 99% of Digg users, its not about being a "social media rockstar"... its just about reading quality content on Digg.  And when "power users" are blindly digging hundreds of stories each day based on who submitted those stories clearly it waters down the site for the end users, most who don’t "look up to the ’social media rockstars’ and follow their content on Digg or Twitter, in part because they are famous."

I hope they give out the $100 certificate for DonorsChoose like last year.  I have little need for memory cards, mugs or mini refrigerators, but I’m sure a math class in Dorchester could use $100 for supplies.

This was the best article I’ve read in a long time.  Thank you Danny.

What if Google set up a bunch of websites across different industries and purchased inLinks service for these sites? Then they could just hand out massive penalties to whatever domain links to their sites. Goolge could easily do this (for what amounts to a drop in the bucket for them) and really damage this service. I doubt Google operates like this, but you never know...

If the up and down buttons bother people so much, they should just use another search engine.

Google might very well use bounce rate in its algorithm, but the evidence provided in this article doesn’t come even close to "confirming" this.

This article definitely rates a 10 out of 10 on the rant scale!  However, I disagree with nearly everything in it.  Google and the other search engines have not stifled creativity in the least, quite the opposite.  Just take a look around on the Internet (if you filter out the BS blackhat sites, ironically) and you’ll see that creativity is thriving!  Publishers of quality content just need to find a proper business model.  If no one is willing to pay for your content and you can’t figure out how to monetize it, that is not the fault of Google or Yahoo."Black Hat and non-White Hat SEOs execute in that environment, helping users find what they actually want amongst the noise. They are actually helping society." You want to talk about Bullsh*t. Is it really possible to argue that BH SEO is helping people find what they need while at the same time ripping search engines - probably the greatest technology ever invented for helping people find and access information?

"Google is in business to make money.  Ergo, it stands to reason that Google  favors commerical sites selling products over purely free sites offering free information.  Why?  Because Google makes most of their money from advertising related ventures."Your logic makes no sense.  Why would Goolge favor commercial sites in its organic listings? If Google wanted to do anything to increase its advertising revenue, it would favor informational sites in its organic listings so that commercial sites would be forced to pay Google if they wanted traffic.
