-Real and human right from the start-Knowledge of the blog’s content/audience-Understanding of the author’s perspective-Tie-in between the pitch and the blog content/audience/author-Brevity in the pitch -Use of bulleted lists and links in the pitch-Make it easy for the blogger to write about the topic by providing additional resources on the topic -Finish with a human offer to opt-out of future pitches

Thanks for starting the Q&A blog Eric.  In my opinion this is a very classy way to respond to the criticism your SEL column received last week on Sphinn.  One of the same Sphinners made very similar comments on an article that I contributed to within the SEL In-House column a few months back.  Even though I didn’t agree with his "theoretical fluff" spin on my article, I wasn’t nearly as proactive with my response.  Anyhow, I’m looking forward to referencing your new blog as the archives grow.  In the meantime, I’ll have to come up with a juicy link building question of my own.

There is a lot of information circulating through the industry about basic social media strategies, but very little of it is focused on the campaigning aspect Maki covers here. This post provides great tactical advice on blogger relations.

I think that SEO Firefox is one the most powerful free tools in SEO, beginner or not. The "download CSV" feature is the key to getting the most out of that tool. Also, Boykin has a ton of great free tools too (none are FF extensions though).
