It’s called "Internet addiction".  Working on the computer too many hours, 7 days a week.  Not turning off the computer at the end of the day even though you know you should.  And when you do turn off the computer, you can only think about what happens on the computer.  I know many SEOs with this problem.

My theory of SEO consulting:If someone can get #1 for tough keywords, they shouldn’t be taking any clients.

It works if you use it sparingly and carefully and it’s not the main link building method.

#10 is my favorite.I love the sites that say "$750 to rank #1 in 25 major search engines for 50 keywords"

How about 6 physical changes for the webmaster:Gain 20 pounds, lose eyesight, carpel tunnel syndrome, bad sleeping patterns, bad posture, and Internet addiction.

Clever idea, but there is are ways to immediately see through this.  Once Google reads that post, trying it would be dangerous.

Luckily it was just a somewhat neglegted blog and not a monetized site.  The Google Alerts should at least provide some warning before an entire site gets spidered and penalized.Google Webmaster Tools didn’t provide any warning, but I put in a feature request here.It will be an interesting experiment to see how long my reinclusion request takes.

I don’t know the details about that law, but something should be done to protect people from Google.Data collection by Google not anonymous.  The search engines easily have enough data to mine specific details about individuals.  Combine that with the mobile phones, GPS, etc. and it’s Big Brother.Someday Google won’t be considered a "nice" company anymore.  Maybe some other country will own it.  It’s too much data for any one oganization to have.

This is a constant issue.  It’s good to have some online resource to point the client to, like "Top 10 mistakes in Web design".

I wonder if this is where they implement microformats. They code some of their SERPs (e.g., Local) with microformats, but haven’t supported them from the other side yet.The anti-aliased fonts are classic.

I think that Jason knows that SEOs have a lot of link juice to pass around so he baits them with comments like that.  Or maybe he just opens his mouth before he thinks. Not the first time he has been hypocritical.

Interesting post and Web developers should learn these things. The only thing I disagree with is "Solution #1" which says "You can only [keep the same URLs] if your new web site is written in the same type of code e.g. PHP, HTML, etc."There are ways to keep the same URLs even when using a different programming language...

You should mention the keyword on the page and key locations (with plurals and stemming variations), but counting keyword density is a waste of time.

That Matt Cutts "chiropractor" example is great because it shows how close he is to becoming an SEO consultant. :)It doesn’t matter if he is a good chiropractor or not...
