NO opening text, no closer, no authority citations, "truths" unclear or simply wrong. Self promotional Sphinn spam.

So much great information here...between the original post and the comments/conversation, there’s gotta be a few things you hadn’t thought about already.

Alright, I’m hoping that Wingnut is just joshing about using blackhattish tactics in the name of SEO, and what he’s truly doing is exposing the dirty underbelly of ROR in hopes of change. I know that’s what I’m hoping for and why I sphunn the post. Many bloggers wrote about what dastardly practices ROR and sites like it embrace and how these sorts of sites seem to rank more highly than they should...yet nothing changes...

The tool is interesting but there needs to be some documentation of whether its an official application, where the data comes from and when? I’d especially want to know the timeline for the base data the results are pulled from? Also, I’m wondering if these types of applications are the result from bot accounts I see proliferating on Twitter?

Hi Wingnut, I tried to comment at your blog, but had troubles with the captcha:First, the captcha image doesn’t display here for me...first time I’ve seen an option for audio file but glad it was there for me :) <adding now, typed in the captcha from audio but it wouldn’t accept it, then couldn’t get audio again >Second, if others are like me...I want to be friendly but it’s hard to make the first overtures to others. Its good to remember that we’re all just people, the world is a lot smaller than we think and there’s no such thing as having too many friends.

I wonder how people are managing follows/followers within vastly different groups...do you have more than one Twitter account?

Here’s the thing for me on this...Ruud, your article definitely earns merit for its clear and concise content. I particularly admire your choice of words/phrases and the simple illustrations. However, I don’t think this article provides enough meat to be worthy of the trip over...even for a newbie. To extend the information without bulking up the content, adding a menu of links to more info on anchor text issues would have added value. I would have also liked to have a taste of the next article in the series for dessert.Hmmm...now I’m hungry.

Like leadegroot, I have always thought that reputation would be a big part of what gets sphunn...just like what gets a link. I wouldn’t sphinn or link to anything I’d feel ashamed of admitting to my peers. However, this won’t "fix all" because not everyone values their reputation in the community as much as others. If you’ve got the most power/friends/money, then you’ve likely got something worthy to share. I say every man for himself...do what works for you and the best content will generally rise to the top.

Sphunn for the dissenting comments...self-appointed experts pointing fingers isn’t a very good idea.

Okay, I tried my very first submit this morning...using some of your suggestions. We’ll see how it does, though so far it’s gone to mid-second page with only two Sphinns so far.

Well, I was thinking the blackhat aspect was in the technical application of the popups.

Funny, I just noticed this today! I was wondering if it was how they intentionally set it up or if it was a glitch...couldn’t believe it was intended.
