This post is engaging in the exact same practice it’s railing against.

@everett- That’s the way it is for us.  BUT in the long run we’re trying to add assests to push coupon sites and affiliates off page one, we rather not give up those marketing and margin dollars.  Still a good idea for most smaller brands.

There was an SEO guy from Amex at our table at lunch today at SES NY.  I asked him a few questions about some of these very things- apparently they’ve had some turnover there and haven’t been able to get a lot of SEO traction in house.  The word ’dabbling’ was used.  I didn’t have the heart to really press him any further- I chickened out in the name of cordiality.

I’ve read so many different things about Ask this week that I have no idea what the real plan is.  Are they just going to serve ads and google search results?  Are they not going to move forward with search?  Thanks for letting me know I’m not the only one confused.  But in the end only 1.5% of my traffic comes from Ask as it is and it’s almost all PPC, so do I need to care what they plan to do?

Great propaganda. Our PR department has almost no interest in what we are doing in e-commerce.  I am forwarding this as we speak.
