I have to disagree with you, eWhisper. If social media sites and sites that are social media friendly need to get their ads stripped off, most of these sites will not survive.Newspapers and social media sites are two different things. You can’t decide which content to be published in the papers and you can’t interact with another person reading the newspaper via the newspaper. :)
Even though you might already be the number 1 site in your niche, you are still required to work hard in order to maintain the position. The Internet is booming and we can see competition coming from all directions.

Most of the designs are moving towards the concept of minimalism and sleekyness. Web 2.0 I guess. Anyway, I love the MySpace redesign the most but profile customizations killed them.

I find it hard when I want to promote my affiliate sites using social media since I don’t really have ample knowledge about all the niches that I am in and thus, I end up outsourcing more of the efforts.Promoting a niche using social media is more than just writing articles over and over again. If people direct some specific or "deep" questions about the niche to you believing that you are the expert when you are not, you’re doomed. :)
