Thanks Gab - pointing this out (again) was my goal ...BTW we also created a german version of the post herehttp://www.cemper.at/seo-knowhow/co-citations-link-building
Story: Who Owns Link Building?
Wondering what you Sphinners think about the report detail and length... get the impression its to lenghty / complex for the audience
@iBrian: If you read again youll notice that we DID try to explain our approach, without giving away all details and numbers we put together for a couple days... yes. I understand that you want to have all the nitty gritty details resulting in dozens of hours of our work for the valuation model, and see no value in getting results. Well, thats one opinion and the first negative feedback so far that I can live with, without feeling pressure to give out everything. We tried to describe the approach on a high level, present our results and wanted to get feedback on it. So far nobody did present a ranking of universities based on SEO factors - to possibly release a bigger, more compehensive version in the future when we looked at other countries universities (see comment thread on site)Not sure tough how you come to imply that we "invite" somebody to spam anyone?
check this quote"Sites that dont link out appear "exceptional" on these graphs, and probably not in a good sense."
Hey Wiep - where does Aarons article say that its "generally agreed that linking out currently doesnt have direct ranking advantage" ???thats BS in my eyes... placing good co-citations has been around for three years now and weve have numerous discussions and TESTs that showed that linking out DOES have an impact.some of that can simply be found here http://www.google.com/search?client=opera&rls=en&q=linking+out&sourceid=opera&num=10&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8Can you point me to that paragraph where you got that from for the excerpt?thanks!christoph
Oh BTW I just added that question and a Bonus Tip for finding more great authority links from this researchto the post... Almost forgot about or common forward link approach last night... was late again :-)
Thank Kevin! I appreciate your feedback. Actually I was a bit unsure if this would suffice, since we got that "spreadsheet of hell" with all the base data in it... but publishing that in all detail, all formulas would make it a 10000 word post ... way too much to read and comprehend...I thought about offering that as a detail report for interested people once we get enough comments on the post -what do yo think?best, christoph
I second that outsourcing linkbuidling to India is a pure pain and waste of time and (maybe less per hour) money. We tried to outsource over the past 3 yrs and always got links not matching our specifications - in fact some of those indians were even hurting reputation (e.g. "This is not a spam mail... bla bla")RE: "not working in live" - well the linkdomain commands were turned off by MSN ages ago
Thanks Dave, but all credits go to Johannes Beus of SISTRIX (a german SEO company)
Is this a fake? I dont see that "No Follow Class" in any of the webmaster console accounts I manage for my own stuff and clients
Hey Dixon! This is a great post and I love your ideas... we had similar issues with scrapers and proxy sites, including some "big brand tool site" that was stealing our content
what a crappy tool... the pr checksum algo was cracked like 4 yrs ago, and even tough this tool shows PR10 for all ofmy pages... plus JohnWeb is 100% right
So why are you bitching at Jim and Aaron actually? Jims point was that a PR block by Google for link sellers will never stop them selling links, simply because they dont know about it (like Halfdeck correctly added)nough said... the rest of this whole thread is filler.
@Feydakin: they ARE paid links... they paid Google Adwords to get people to put the counters on their sites
Amazing one Loren! I really like how in THIS case - where Google obviously earns $ for the traffic to the hitcounter sites that spamming works like a charm even still 5 months after the tactic being posted on Matts blog
Hey Dave,
thanks for feedback - I agree that the article title does not precisely reflect all aspects I wanted to discuss in there... in fact I had a lengthier one before but chose to make it a bit more catchy so people have to digg into it to find out what I mean...
Is renaming the article title here possible BTW?
best,christoph
sorry to hear about Robins site tanking in traffic.
But I see two major issues with his current situation still
1) while he communicates he learnt his lesson regarding Text Link Ads and bash them, he a) still runs TLA ads b) still runs AT LEAST one or two other link broker networks that are A LOT spamier than text link ads IMHO (and may be the cause of your ranks dropping essentially)
2) its the old "all eggs in one basket" problem ,as Robin already talks about laying off people after 7 days of tanking ranks... wow... thats not a stable operation after 5 years...
And frankly, the link boxes in his footer carrying TLA ads and besides that two other link networks, DO LOOK spammy
I agree - just because your commenter doesnt want to disclose its id, it doesnt mean you may ignore him.
