No problem, thanks for sharing!  I updated this information to be included on our main blog at http://www.seowhitehats.com/2009/02/07/seo-blog-sphinn-comments.html and included links to your blog post.

Thanks for the additional information.  For feedback, I was presented this SEO question by a Interactive Agency that is already committed to SWFAddress, so I focused on providing an solution for getting SWFAddress without switching from SWFAddress.  I will take your comments and do some more research about SWFObject and the Google Indexing, I haven’t seen many successful implementations using SWFObject and many tests I read about online showed that the Google Indexing was marginal, do you have one or two examples of good implementations that you could share?I get a lot of questions about Best Practices for FLASH SEO and I am always looking for a better answer than ’FLASH is bad for SEO!’.Thanks again for the comments, I opened up comments on the blog...my mistake on that one, I don’t usually post very much to the personal blog.

Dave and Miriam, I completely agree that there are lots of other ways to gain local search and they are all listed before this idea of alphabetic ranking and geo-centering. I saw this idea while doing research at some point, even though I can not recall exactly where, I thought it was interesting enough to include (Note to self....write down your reference next time.) As far as an example, here is a search using local.com: http://www.local.com/results.aspx?keyword=mortgage&location=denver&setlocation=on&newsearch=true This is a mortgage broker search in Denver, CO. This result seems to give some preference to ’Creekside Funding’ over ’GMAC Mortgage’ even though GMAC is a closer match. The idea is based on the idea that if all other things are equal, the listings will alphabetize. This is definitely ’yellow’ page thinking and would only apply to sites that tend to repurpose the information databases available from the business data providers. Great comments!

Good read...having learned SEO without having to market those skills until recently....branding and popularity are just part of the ’game’.
