I would think stuff like this leads to the demise of Googles trustworthiness. If nobody trusts Google, theyll start jumping off the ship. Google is pretty impervious at this point, but not so much so that they shouldnt have SOME fear people will start going elsewhere.

Is "nolonger" a word? Hehe... sorry jhartman007.SEO is a moving target. Its hard to stay on top of everyones opinions about what the next trend is and what is the best way to serve the customer. What doesnt help is vague results or responses from Google and their ilk. If there were more concrete results it would make things a lot easier. But b/c the industry as a whole deals with a lot of unknowns, its more of a tactic of throw-a-bunch-of-stuff-at-a-wall-and-see-what-sticks method in my opinion.
Kimota and Mike: Thanks for the great discussion! Its always fascinating to see the different points of view with intelligent discussion. I definitely get all your very valid points.Jill: To your first comment, I do think that there are many out there that wouldnt ever consider stepping over that line but, conversely, there are many who dont mind it at all. It is most definitely not a black and white topic. Some out there really dont care how you get the results, just that you get them and I guess that falls in line what some consider to be cheating (to Kimotas point).
How is this any different than anything else on this site? Its all to promote business. Shocker!
Amen sister! This is the same crowd who will let the door slam in someones face as well. What has happened to the KIDS TODAY??!!! Were old. We expect too much apparently.
By the way, if you search on Fidel Castro (http://www.google.com/search?q=fidel+castro&sourceid=navclient-ff&ie=UTF-8&rlz=1B3RNFA_enUS175US231)
Perez is mentioned in the top result, which is a news result but still...
Not bad...
Yes but that is the point of link bait and Perez Hilton wont care if people dont think hes a real source for world news, hes already a source for entertainment news with FLAIR.
