Very good reading for people without the in-house resources. I've already seen Mechanical Turk being used in some interesting tasks for SEO, PPC and Social.

Would have been an Editor's Pick if the post went into more detail and analysis - but still very interesting to know :o)

This is hilarious. My favourite:

14) Conversions: 3% to 5% is decent

Yeah, I think that the site experienced some downtime / latency issues.

At least the escorts are conveniently located next to Waterloo for easy transport links out of London ;o)

I'd like to know what the "disgruntled searcher" was typing in to get those results. [ford escorts in london]?

Great article - moved to homepage as an Editor's Pick.

o3man - We do actually take off the nofollow for stories hitting the homepage. Removing all of the nofollows will result in an influx of spam and the submission of stories just to get links. If your industry news is good, it should hit the homepage and you'll get your link. Please don't use Sphinn just as a source of links though.

I've seen a trial of this in the UK - a really bad execution and a poor attempt at acquiring revenue outside of their current PPC model. Their attempt on loans (before the economic collapse) seemed confusing to most and did not significantly affect organic CTR according to my data.

Pretty cool, although I guess it makes the integrity of your social network even more important. Being a social whore with a million friends could open this up to a lot of abuse. Speaking of which, my cialis blog post will be coming shortly ;o)

Good for those of us who know that Google will get our data anyway, so we might as well give in and let them help us :o)

Not sure this article is accurate - .gb.com were given away at silly prices a while ago as part of a promotion. It's like comparing .info with .com - simply a matter of cheap domains with spam sites bringing themselves down, rather than affecting all other sites IMHO.

This post has no real value, pointless article.

The timeline image alone is worth the Sphinn vote, very true indeed.

Although CAPTCHAs can sometimes be a pain, they do prevent automated spam which would cripple a site such as this. reCAPTCHA is one of the best CAPTCHA solutions that I know of, although as the words are based on old documents and scripts, we can't guarantee 100% readability.

The reCAPTCHA box does include a button to refresh onto a different CAPTCHA though, so you're only a click away from readability :)

The platform is custom built from the ground up, by Sphinn moderator Nick Wilsdon's team.

That's wierd, definitely one for the list. I guess moderators should also be able to edit timestamps.

Thanks Mel, I would say that it's a feature, but... ;o)Our developers will be checking this thread regularly and will try to fix anything raised here ASAP.

I see this more as marketing bumpf than news. Not spam though IMO.
