It’s called "Product Plus Box" and Google’s offering it as an alpha test if you have a Google Base Product feed.
We ran a few tests across some of our larger sites over the course of a month. Our results were all very positive from capitalizing the first letter of each word. We’ve now implemented this across almost all of our campaigns and the results have been stellar.

I agree with a lot of these comments. A few mistakes can cost companies quite a bit of money. In terms of the red flags I have to disagree on a few of those points though."You have attended only 1 or 2 search marketing conferences in the past 4 years." - Just because you aren’t able to attend conferences on a regular basis, doesn’t mean anything other than the fact that your manager is el cheapo in terms of travel. For the most part you can get all the session information online, you’ve really just missed out on the social aspect.The other point is "You aren’t spending at least 1 hour per day reading what’s happening in the search marketing arena." For many of us who are in house, our days are pretty busy so to dedicate an eigth of our day to reading about search can be pretty tough. Thats why Friday afternoons are so nice - great time to play catchup on the weeks RSS. :)
@scottcleland - From really just looking at the surface of this site, It seems much more like an About.com or even wikipedia than anything else. Sure this gives the everday person an avenue to write about topics which interest them, but it’s a very indirect way of competing with newspapers. For the most part, newspapers write on current topics and local news while knol is more of an about.com where the information isn’t necessarily as time sensitive. I do agree with the fact that magazines and journals especially how-to sites, can be affected, especially if they don’t have a solid online offering.With that being said, Google certainly has been making advancements in their news offering which traditional media should take notice of.
Our ROI has been better in MSN than Yahoo for a while now, but the volume is still so small that we’re not able to allocate dollars from the other engines even though we’d like to.
I certainly enjoyed your presentation. It’s forced me to go back and rethink a few campaigns that I was running. It’s so easy to just copy and paste sometimes but its truly worth the effort to dig deeper up front.
95% of whats always worked for SEO will continue but its that other 5% that really sets you apart, and in certain organizations that 5% can make big big differences.
Couldn’t agree with thejenn more. Just because you’ve spoke in the past doesn’t mean that you should have the chance at every show. More than a few of the speakers that I’ve listened to from conference to conference haven’t even changed their slides. I can read their tired dribble on the blogs if I want old tips & tricks. I definitely don’t agree with the sponsored sessions all being during the same time. It sounds like a good time for the attendees to do some sightseeing.
I think the first one sphinned. Honestly some people get more sphinn’s regardless just becaues of who they are.....
Great find Nick. I’ve updated my post to reflect this. I’m glad to see they were pro-active and removed the bad information. I just hope there weren’t to many that have already read the original and been affected.

I enjoyed your article. The problem I run into is finding the time to write quality original content when i’m working a 40 plus hour job on top of it. In any case I’d prefer to read a blog with only 1 post a week as opposed to a blog with daily garbage.

I find the commenting and voting ads up and down to be interested. I wonder if Reddit actually makes decisions and takes action based on users feedback. There’s a lot of awful ads that I’d love to vote down on.
I’m getting an iframe with "Oops, what you’re looking for isn’t here!" I think this idea is great and can’t wait until its up and running fully.
Even though the data is old it still makes my job a lot easier when working on keyword estimates for new campaigns. Perhaps there was a enough backlash from the SEM community that they brought this tool back? Who know’s.
