Even though Twitter is often considered as similar to IM - it is still radically different in the aspect that posting updates to an entire group isn’t esentially considered as "spam" with Twitter and is mostly considered as a "natural approach"

There has been a lot of speculation that Yahoo DOES take META into consideration while ranking pages.I’ve also personally tried experimenting and found that META gave me a slight edge when it came to SERPs on Yahoo.It is a fact though that META is complete crap when it comes to Goog..

@theGypsy,Good post!But, Social Media Marketing Success i’d say is closely linked to Search Engine Success - But you cant just guage it off hand like in SEO where you can gauge success by finding the amount or rise in Organic Search Traffic since Social Media is a Circle.The best way to find out how well Social Media has worked out for you would be by figuring out:1. How well folks in your market recognize you as a brand.2. What has the general rise in sales/traffic been.3. What % of your traffic is re-visits or people who come back.4. What’s the general buzz around your product.Those are my thoughts.But, im only a newbie to this - Not one of those PRO’s you are consulting, so they may have something better to say or no?

I seriously dont understand what google is thinking.
They want to combat folks like Andy from doing paid posts, but they continue to offer paid search positioning using their adwords system.
Do they seriously think that they’re allowed to dictate all the terms?
But, then again - We’re all Google’s slaves - Without Google, its kinda hard to survive in the internet marketplace.
So much for monopoly.

"Social Media aint Messy" - If you are in the places where you have to be.
We all have to be here in Sphinn being Internet Marketers, and obviously Sphinn is Social Media.

I think this is completely untrue.
1. The traffic from social networking sites like myspace is highly untargeted - I agree.
But, its about finding the right places where people talk about or search for niches relevant to your product.
Just like in PPC, if your selling tomatoes, you cannot bid on the keyword "potatoes" - You cannot arbitrarily assume that social media is just about Myspace/Digg, it has gotten over and above all of that and is poised to become the next big advertising phenomenon.
2. Money thrown into social media marketing isn’t necessarily a waste, since the traffic coming from social media aren’t like the traffic from search and tend to be more "participative".
These kind of folks in my opinion would be the ones who comment on your blog posts or subscribe to your feed.
Or, in other terms social media traffic doesnt convert right away but eventually does so and the value from social media is probably more than search in terms of brand building or making users propagate your product.
3. There are no metrics YET to gauge the success of social media, so one cannot come into quick conclusions about social media being not so good a marketing mode.
I think that the post in SEL is prolly link bait or somebody who cant figure out the REAL DEAL with social media.

Its obvious that unless MS tries to adopt Yahoo’s search tecnology, they’re just gonna be becoming worser.
But, something tells me that MS is gonna have Yahoo as their third search brand - They’re just too dumb.

There are some major issues which are plaguing the SEO industry as a whole.1. A number of companies indulge in black hat in order to pump in rankings either knowingly or unknowingly and eventually make the client lose faith.2. A number of firms DO NOT provide value for money and do not own up to their mistakes.3. Some companies have no idea what they are doing or what they should be doing.So, in fact - There is no norm to determine a good SEO - You have to just go by word of mouth or recommendations as a customer and that’s one issue people should be addresing.
