pittfall
Black hat techniques shouldnt be highlighted on sphinn. I dont think that Squidoo would appreciate this either.
What I see typically is that the perceived top keyword is not always the most relevant keyword for a client, doesnt provide the most traffic or usually isnt the best converting keyword. All this says is that education is one of the most important aspects of the SEO client relationship. This was most likely the most important thing 3 years ago and will likely still be the case 3 years from now!
Im not an addict, I just like to -- drink and type, thats what spell check is for- stay awake for days at a time- cant remember where I was going with this- you understand me, understand me- offline friends are overrated- they help keep me in my chair
I dont totally agree with asking a mathematician about page rank, however, it is something that is inflated because it is one of the few gauges that Google publishes to everyone and because of this, it is taken to the nth degree by most.
What about evaluating competition? I like to think outside the box, but when diagnosing concerns and assessing solutions, your competition and market should be considered. Without full evaluation of the vertical and other competitors you are working with blinders on. SWOT analysis, even though not tailored for online, can be a key consideration when dividing and conquering your desired market.I would like to say that it is a good article Stoney!
Kim,I would not call you a content thief and I really wasnt referring to the Ross issue in particular, more the idea in general. We have to be considerate of each other, mistakes and all! Those that are unwilling to admit mistakes and those that are above others making mistakes need to exit stage left. Like Jeeb said, we shouldnt ever get to the point that we make others anxious or fearful of posting, commenting or asking questions in this environment. We should welcome the novice, intermediate and advanced users!
@Mad Hat - you really should listen to the podcast of Danny and Shoe. It is less of a debate and more of a discussion and very informative.
Kim, Everyone should be considerate of each other and approach them with respect, but dont expect that everything that is done is perfect.Like Bill said, The act of blogging creates opportunities for people to go from observer to publisher, to editor, to perhaps instigator or educator or influencer. This also gives us the opportunity to post before we get it all straight. We all make mistakes, we dont know everything... but if we dont keep our humility in check then we will get better!Live, Learn and move on!
Well Danny,Its quite the ironic thing, rather than testing the "readability" of the site in question, it tested the "readability" of the person grabbing the code to pop on their website!"Can I get a badge for that?" LOL
Congrats... you always seem to be a slight step ahead of most of us (well, maybe not quite as fast as Maki, but who is?).You even have the highest % of submits gone hot (of those with over 50 hots). Keep up the good work!
@ Rand - I think that being courteous and considerate of others online should be a serious consideration for SEOs and marketers alike.Wireds definition of SEO:"Search engine optimization services are the Wile E. Coyotes of the Internet economy: doomed to stalk prey that repeatedly slips away just as it’s captured. SEO consulting — fine-tuning client pages to land them atop search engine results — has blossomed into a multibillion-dollar industry. But even those that attain the ultimate prize of a number one ranking can’t celebrate for long. Search engines are always tweaking their algorithms to prevent sites from gaming the system to artificially boost their results. Sure, it makes for a frustrating chase. But it also means repeat business."This wont change until we respect our online neighbors rather than trying to exploit them!
Great ideas... finding time to accomplish large tasks (like social optimization) can seem huge, but if you break them up into smaller chunks and "make" the time... who knows, top placement?
Congratulations Barry, Tamar and everyone from the roundtable. Well deserved!
I would have to agree with Jill... I might not get out much, but a whole lot of people that I felt should be included are not, and the ones that are should not.
I think I can get a couple of twenties to help the cause!@baiduyou - we might want to get some press releases out about how digg will bring down Google and it is a sure bet that Mr. Bill will come knocking!
SU has a lot more information around a topic that isnt the person, its social but not primarily social.
