An update -
This morning, three days later, there is still no warning in the main Webmaster Tools message box yet the red warning band is back inside of the domain's WMT account.
This is despite requesting removal late Thursday, where we've had no response...
Also, semi related, Todd knows (all too well) of another instance going on with inconsistent Chrome browser warnings that a site is "dangerous". Neither Webmaster Tools, or a third party site scanner or even visual examination find anything wrong.
I'll bet they'd give you PLENTY of legal advice if you were to do something they didn't like - likely beginning with "Hereby cease and desist..."
This is so true, and very well put, Todd.
The more you learn, the more you need to extract your own ROI. Long gone are the days of sitting through speakers and hearing tons and tons of new information, unless you've been in a coma, but they're still gatherings of the best and brightest minds in the industry.
re: SearchFest - Having all those folks in Portland was amazing, and when I read the negative SearchFest conference review, even though I agreed with with many of her points, I still kept thinking to myself, "But what did you expect?!?". If you already know what's being talked about, MOVE.
It's only up to me to bounce to a different room, see who's hanging in the hallway, or spread myself around as necessary to get the most out of any show, and i'm sure 90% of the people there already realize this.
I remember sitting in countless sessions and tracks because I didn't already know a lot about them, while skipping more popular sessions.
My guess is she sat there in the "social media room" and checked her email all day long, too lazy to get the most out of a rare opportunity, because someone else probably paid for her ticket...
The fact that they tried to blackmail me into taking down a year old blog post isn't Sphinnworthy?
Nice post, and I agree, Wordstream is killer - A great example of keyword research tools growing up...
Todd sends out the linkTwove...
and I don't even care what music @toddmintz is listening to ;)
Thank you @Michelle - Well I don't know that person, and i'm not gonna bug 'em, but I do believe none of those votes were for that particular story.
Thanks Nick and Jill - it looks the same though, about a different site, so i just reported at that thread...
This post - http://sphinn.com/story/127462 is showing the wrong title / description / link - It's different than what was there originally on Friday -
I know this, because the SEJ post was a nice look at my own SEO Automatic, Iphone app ;(
http://www.searchenginejournal.com/seo-automatic-tool-now-for-the-iphone/13344/
which now shows no Sphinns...
Magically changing Sphinn submissions, must be what the submitter means by, "can David Blaine do this?" - This submission changed, and this is not the story I voted for. What's going on?
Story: SEO Is Rocket Science
Nice read Todd, - well - the info anyway ;) I had to hit CTRL A to see the text well enough! Must be my eyes getting old...
I have to disagreewith this Skizzo - unless you only mean temporarily. "Changing URLs will always cost you rankings, even if you use 301 redirects"
And yes, the point of my post was that in some cases - say a blog that pre-existed and was SEO'd just a couple of weeks ago and hasn't been fully re-indexed - then yes, most certainly, upgrading to WordPress 2.82 (and NOW 2.83) can indeed, hurt rankings.
