I was actually talking with my mom about this the other day. Our neighbor is the CMO at Wachovia and they wanted some way to integrate their company within Facebook. All I said is build a widget. We’ll see if that happens. Interesting how all the big players seem to be getting into this game a little late....or maybe at the peak of popularity.

It sort of makes you wonder, if society didn’t place all this emphasis on Google, would everyone else switch over to the likes of Yahoo!, MSN or Ask for their marketing campaigns?? In the case of celebrities, if the paparazzi doesn’t follow them, they’re no longer in the news, thus everyone forgets about them. If we all detracted our attention from Google, I wonder what effect that would cause.

Networking is the fundamental source for most jobs isn’t it? As well as business? I work for an SEM firm and we used to have this sales guy who never came into work because all he did was network, network, network. He went to every local event, SEM related or not. He attended shows for hospitality and tourism, gift fairs, etc and always came back with TONS of contacts. I think, as SportsGuy has posed, that if you don’t attend networking events, you are limiting yourself not only in job opportunities and leads to business, but also in education that you learn from others. Networking is VITAL to any business. So I think the real question should be if you’re not networking, why not and how do you get business contacts?

Wow that is so true. I surf the Internet most days scrounging for new blog material and along the way I often times find myself reading and watching things completely irrelevant to my JOB! Although sometimes those stumbles give me a lightbulb. So maybe it’s not all a waste.

Interesting post. Unfortunately the only people reading her blog are Chinese, or fluent Chinese readers and speakers. I highly doubt any of us here could figure out those characters. So the lesson here is if you want to become popular on the web, move to China, make lots of friends and have them link to you. They are, after all, the most numerous culture on the planet.
