Sigh... this has a serious feeling of groundhog day to it. Who will it be next week?
As for the article in question, I was particularly surprised to read this perspective from Marty. Marty has written some fantastic articles over at aimClear regarding appropriate and ethical social media participation. One in particular that came to my mind is Don't pee in the pool
This new piece seems to directly contradict it.
It is hard work Shalom, but it's certainly worth making the commitment to it. Since I started guest blogging regularly my subscriber base has practically doubled.
I love the phrase 'reputation manipulation' hjorter. Perfect way to describe how most businesses approach social media. I'll be using that one :)
I thought about whether or not to Sphinn it Ken. But other link round ups are submitted and voted upon, namely Steven Bradley's & sometimes Dave Harry's. So why not give it a try.
I hope everyone reads this because the last few weeks have been ridiculous. We're destroying and abusing the very nature of social media. Which is ironic when so many of the articles we produce ourselves describe processes to leverage social media.
The sooner we get over this 'controversy is king' phase the better. When did it become anti-social media?
I'm glad I avoided the Desphinn pageone. The title is indeed a little 'risque'... but hey, it got your attention :)
I'm certainly not a Calcanis fan, but I don't agree with publishing this email. It's a fairly low move. And besides which, it just gives him more publicity.
Fantastic article! It is often difficult to quantify social media investment, so this is a great case study to show tangible benefits. Bookmarked.
Up and coming bloggers Dave... Not sure you fit into that category buddy :)

That is too damn funny! Submitted just as Jill's post went hot! Plagiarism indeed :)
Story: The Value of 50 Sphinns
I've actually found Sphinn has been sending far more traffic over the past month or so. Hot posts have been generating 400+ visitors, which is well above the 200 or so I used to get. Not quite sure if that's due to an increase in usage...?
Thanks for the submission Maki. Thrilled to have you submit my work.
Geez... who would have thought people would take this post so seriously...? The geek part was just a bit of fun and not the actual substance of the article, but it seems to have certainly touched a sensitive nerve with some.
Agree that it's a great idea from an SEO perspective. But I do wonder about the perception of a normal customer. How will they feel about the request (if they even understand it)? Do we love trawling through the link request emails we receive?

Story: Is Desphinning rude?
I've never cast a Desphinn, mainly because I'd really have to passionately disagree with the viewpoint to consider it appropriate. I treat other social media outlets in a similar fashion. Even when it came to the Lyndon debate, in which I had a fairly strong opinion, I refrained because I still had some appreciation for the success Lyndon achieved.
Like others have mentioned, I simply don't cast the vote if I don't believe it's worthy. I think a Desphinn based on a minor disagreement is somewhat fickle.
I suspected the article would be misinterpreted by some people. That's ok. They're entitled to their opinion. The feedback has been predominantly positive, so I don't believe currying favour was the general perception.
Bah... why does Plurk karma matter anyway. Isn't it about socialising and networking...?
