There goes the consolidation of the market. Yahoo! is barely holding on, Ask might be out. What does that leave the consumer with, Google or Microsoft? With Microsoft's current search engine sophistication, I can already see Google's market share apporaching 100% :)
Wow! Last night I noticed a weird occurance, someone submitted one of our conference listings on Sphinn. I showed it to Boris and we were both surprised that our events section of the site even has "sphinn it" button for events.
@Danny: You are absolutely right, the content is not unique and was never intended as such. It was taken from the SES website, just like SMX listings are taken from SMX website. Obviously, it was never intended for submission on sites like Sphinn.
The "sphinn it" button is a technical issue and it was not supposed to appear on event listings in the first place. It will be removed shortly.
Who would've thought that a stupid button on one of our pages can create so much controversy and put you in this position.
Let us consider this issue closed and move on to more important things.

David Rodnitzky, the author of the post, responds via comments:
"Just to clarify further: both tools still show up in the user interface - there is a tool called “Edit Campaign Negative Keywords” and there is also a tool called “Keyword Tool.” Both are still there.
The difference is that the functionality of the “Keyword Tool” has now changed significantly. As David Wilson points out in his comment to this post, it is still apparently possible to find and add negative keywords through the Keyword Tool (though I followed his suggestions and I still couldn’t make it work), but the functionality has basically been buried. In the prior version, it was very openly displayed and easy to use."

Yep. Too bad he's leaving SEOmoz. But I wish him best of luck with his future ventures.
It looks like you'll need a big table :)
If I'll be able to get away from the booth I'll definitely join you guys.
Honestly, I haven't seen this quality of writing online in a long time. Great piece.
Story: Sphinn Sluggishness
Danny,
FYI, I've tried adding myself to one of the events in the calendar and I got the following error:
"Fatal error: Cannot instantiate non-existent class: queryobj in /var/www/html/sp/sphinn.com/calendar/includes/add_self_to_event.php on line 8"
Now sure if others are getting this too...
There is a flip side to not posting a date. In the SEM industry, where new articles are popping up every minute, readers are spoiled by the up-to-the-minute info.
Would you read an article on landing page optimization from 2004? Many people wouldn't even though the advice there is probably just as relevant today as it was then.
Of course, there are other ways to resurrect the old posts that are still relevant but I can see where those bloggers are coming from.
There are plenty of legitimate and ethical ways to gain .edu links. It might be easier for some niches than others but if you're cleaver and provide quality information, there is no need to spam these sites.
Not sure if this was mentioned before, but an ability to bookmark stories would be very handy.
