I have a vague memory of Robert Scoble updating the birth of his child online, and I think he used Twitter.
I became a dad 3 weeks ago, and was Twittering up until we went to the hospital. But a long labour, and rules about mobiles meant that I ended up focussing on helping my partner to painkillers rather than Twittering...
But there's been plenty of updates on baby Oscar @badgergravling and on Flickr!
It would be interesting to compare this to the most active groups, as I suspect they're slightly more likely to be about brands and issues, rather than 'fandom' - even though Pages and Groups both share pretty much identical functionality.
But I'm more likely to register as a Fan of music, for example, which displays my tastes , than I am to sign up for most brands.
And Chris Moyles has had the advantage of constantly plugging the Facebook page on Radio1!
I'm a huge fan of Twitter, and DoshDosh, but I'm not keen on the spin on that article. Although he does talk about the value of having decent conversations, the headline and initial angle of the story could end up with even more people spamming and bulk following....
