Happy Birthday in advance, Sphinn. And thanks for all those who make this the great place it is!
Our own policy is not to work with companies who have other SEOs in the picture. It only causes confusion and is hard to measure if your own work is successful or not.
I'm currently cleaning up a mess that a client caused by allowing another vendor to manage their PPC campaign. CTR dropped while CPC increased. Now trying to fix what this other vendor's automated solution screwed up. Also told client if happens again, "we will fire you!"
@Maing - Probably due the the parenthesis surrounding 'my' in the title?
As the submitter, you should be able to edit title and description any time.
Just upgraded several blogs using the "automatic upgrade plugin" and wow was that easy. Wish I would had learned about that long agao! Thanks Brent.
Story: Twitter - We Need To Talk
As with any directory, one should ensure the category page they want to be listed on is actually indexed by Google and other engines and has some measure of PageRank (authority). If it is not indexed, it cannot be recognized as passing link juice. Even more important, does it have potential to send traffic?
Don't know how much that wil thwart spammers. Seems to me they don't care if links are followed or not, or at least they don't take the time to learn if a nofollow tag is applied.
It will be interesting to see if your spam goes down as a result of this move. I have not found it to be so, at least with commenting on the blogs I run.
If it is successful, it will be something I think we'd be interested in incorporating at Small Business Brief where we get a lot of spam submissions as well. ;)
Damn, and just as I thought I was getting closer to getting Matt Mcgee to buy into Twitter - this won't help. ;)
Even if this somehow passed, I think it is a weak trademark that would be easily turned over. What's the guy going to do anyway if it does pass? Try to keep every SEO in the world from using the word to describe themsselves? Better have a hefty pocketbook for legal battles.
Yep - I have unfollowed people who post stupid things like "I'm eating, I'm peeing, I'm driving, etc." or people who talk too much.
Story: Happy Birthday Bill Slawski!
I just recently unfollowed some people who 1.) I don't know personally as there is already so much noise to sift through and, 2.) people that were Twitering a lot of nonesense.
Danny Sullivan - 3,630
Andy Beal - 3,600
Rand Fishkin - 1,330
Matt Cutts - 283
Matt McGee - 35 (this one is to tempt you to Twitter, Matt)

Story: Ask.com Kills Search Engine
I was really hoping that Ask would be the David that would slay Goliath (or at least make dent in Goliath's armor).
Besides the t-shirts and one hat I scored, I loved the Looksmart highlighters.
Thanks for the Sphinn but I must point out that my takeaways only involve four sessions I covered and not the conference as a whole.
I'd hate to see it happen. If only Google would somehow screw up on something so some of their marketshare could go towards Ask but that most likley will not happen.
Looks like this was merely a rumor and has been debunked - http://sphinn.com/story/32010.
Very nice and concise list. I often see people miss # 9 under navigation (Call to action on every page, no dead ends) and the the Legal Stuff/Re-Assurance/Legitimization items.
One advantage that I have found is that if I get writer's block for one particular industry/topic such as SEM, I can usually get inspired in one of the other industries/topics I write about.
I'm cheering for them as well. I really like the site -- much better than Digg. I am even starting to see some traffic from it as well which is good news.
